My Access Writing Prompt Instructions for Students/Parents:

How to find and respond to a benchmark essay prompts.

 

1.Go to: http://www.myaccess.com

Username: studentIDcwcs (example, 12345cwcs)

Password: student ID (example, 12345)

 

2.Click on “Assignments.”

  Click on assignments

3.You will see “Connecting Waters Charter School District Account,” click it.

Note: You may also see other names but you MUST choose “Connecting Waters Charter School District Account” to see your benchmark essay prompt.

Click on Connecting Waters School District

4.You will see the benchmark essay prompt. It should be the only prompt you see. Click start.

5.You will see the prompt at the top of the page and you can begin writing in the blank white box below the prompt. You can use the prewrite tab but you cannot use the reference tab and you will not need to use the revision plan tab. You can use tools in Font and Paragraph, but you will not need to use the tools in Edit and Insert.

When you have finished writing, click “submit writing.” You must click “submit writing” to get your score. If you do not click “submit writing” and just log out, you may lose your essay.

For Students and Parents - To see scores and print the benchmark essay.

 

1.Go to: http://www.myaccess.com

2.Click MY Portfolio.
Click Portfolio

 

3.Click “Connecting Waters Charter School District Account” under Select Group. You may have to select a Date Range depending on when you completed the essay.

4.Then you will see your prompt name and the scores. If you follow the color band up from each score, you will see Focus & Meaning Content & Development, Organization, Language Use, and Mechanics & Conventions. This example is set for a 4 point rubric. The prompts this year will be set for a 4 point rubric.

To print the essay (with scores) for your portfolio, click the little box to the left of your name and then click “View/Print/Save.”
